The federal government will begin depositing $1,000 into the new Trump Accounts for children who meet the program’s requirements.
The first payments are expected on July 4 and could benefit millions of families across the country.
According to data from the Department of the Treasury, more than 6 million minors had enrolled in the program by mid-June.
Although Trump Accounts can be opened for many children in the United States, the government’s $1,000 deposit is part of a pilot program with specific requirements.
The date announced by the government to begin reflecting these contributions is July 4, coinciding with Independence Day.
Trump Accounts were designed as a savings tool with tax benefits for minors.
Parents, guardians or other authorized individuals can open them in a child’s name as long as the child meets the established requirements.
The accounts are linked to the performance of a stock market index, a feature designed to encourage long-term growth of the money.
As part of the national rollout of the program, the Department of the Treasury announced the gradual launch of the “Trump Accounts” application on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
The platform will allow users to check balances, complete activation processes and manage accounts from mobile devices.
Authorities reported that families who have already completed registration through IRS Form 4547 will begin receiving emails with instructions to finalize the setup of their accounts.
These messages will be sent gradually until July 4.
The Treasury also warned that official communications will only come from the email address no-reply@TrumpAccounts.Treasury.gov.
Immigration specialists have pointed out that the main requirement is that the child was born in the United States during the period established by the program and has a valid Social Security number.
Therefore, the immigration status of the parents would not prevent an eligible child from receiving the benefit.
